Annual Report 2004-2005
Scientific Research
The projects sanctioned in the current year
are given below:
- Investigation on the liquid crystalline phases of cation
induced compacted and nanostructured DNA:implications for
gene therapy
- Preparation & Characterization of bio-polymeric nanoparticles
with potential for usage in laser Immuno-assay and drug
delivery
- Linear and nonlinear optical studies of metal/organic
nanoparticles and ultrathin films
- Nanocomposite thin films of Si-C-N system for wear resistance
and functional application by magnetron sputtering
- Some conducting polymer/binary polymer - Inorganic hybrid
nanocomposite materials
- Study of photoconductivity and photoluminescence of certain
nanostructured materials
- Study of molecular motors for targeted drug delivery and
nanomolecular switching
Some of the research highlights are:
- Development of nanoscale patterning using the Dip pen
lithography technique based on AFM at JNCASR, Bangalore;
- Bi-color nanolithography developed at IIT, Guwahati;
- Size dependent gas sensor based on In2O3 nanoparticles
developed in a project at IIT Delhi;and
- Novel arrangements/cells have been designed for in-situ
observation of elastomeric and liquid thin film in a project
at IIT, Kanpur.
