SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PROPOSALS FROM ANDHRA PRADESH
3117. SHRI GIRIDHARI YADAV:
Will the Minister of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government of Andhra Pradesh has sent some
proposals to Union Government for development of Science &
Technology during the last three years;
(b) if so, the details thereof, year-wise;
(c) the decision taken by the Government on these proposals;
and
(d) the number of proposals lying pending/rejected by the
Union Government along with the reasons therefor?

(a) No, Sir. The Ministry of Science and
Technology in the Union Government does not provide financial
assistance to State Governments. However, the Union Government
supports scientific research proposals received from research
and development institutions, universities, voluntary organizations,
state science and technology councils and other autonomous
organizations in various states including state of Andhra
Pradesh. According to available official statistics, the Union
Government have funded 175, 141 and 188 numbers research and
development projects at a total cost of Rs. 27.94 crores,
Rs.32.17 crores and Rs. 56.90 crores during the years 2002-2003,
2003-2004 and 2004-2005 respectively in the state of Andhra
Pradesh.
