SETTING UP OF TECHNO ENTERPRENEURSHIP PARKS
1388.SHRI. AMIR ALAM KHAN:
Will the Minister of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has set up Techno Entrepreneurship
Parks in various States;
(b) whether Government is considering to set up more such
parks in the country, particularly in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the time by when these parks are likely to be set up?

(a) Yes, Sir. The Government has set up Technology Entrepreneurship
Parks in various States under different programmes and schemes
of various Departments and Ministries. The Department of Science
and Technology has promoted Science and Technology Entrepreneurs
Parks (STEPs) established in academic institutions having
R&D base.
(b) to (d): The proposals for setting up Science and Technology
Entrepreneurship Parks (STEPs) are periodically received by
different Ministries and Departments concerned. The Department
of Science and Technology has set up STEPs at Indian Institute
of Technology, Roorkee in Uttarakhand and Harcourt Butler
Technological Institute, Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The Department
of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications &
Information Technology has approved Software Technological
Parks of India (STPI) centre at Varanasi and Agra in the State
of Uttar Pradesh.
