A. K. Sood started his professional career with M/s Bayer Pharmeuticals, an internationally
renowned pharmaceutical company, as a Medical Representative with a comprehensive
marketing & sales training at company head office. Developed expertise in
marketing and sales contributing handsomely to the sales productivity of the organisation.
Subsequently, worked as a Lecturer in Chemistry at the prestigious University
of Delhi college. He carried out research work for a period of 12 months at the
University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, UK and published papers in international
journal of repute. Joined Government of India
at the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology
in January 1974. During his long tenure at this office, has been engaged in planning,
management, and coordination of various programmes and activities of the office.
He has been engaged in many major programmes of DST and also has unique experience
of filing patents in respect of developments out of research programmes of DST. He
also had a successful engagement earlier in the development stages and then in
the actual functioning of the Technology Development Board of DST. Was responsible
for coordination and efficient running of various commercially funded projects
from TDB where project financing was provided to commercial enterprises by way
of loan and/or equity. Was engaged in developing loan/ equity funding agreements
and monitoring their compliance. Presently, as
Head, International Cooperation Division in the Department of Science & Technology
he is engaged in promotion of international cooperation in S&T with various
countries through bilateral & multilateral cooperation programmes. Increasing
interaction between Indian and foreign scientists through joint research projects,
workshops, seminars, etc is an area of great significance in this context.
His responsibilities also include International joint research
programmes involving public-private partnerships on both the sides of the bilateral
engagements. |
