Assisted Bureau of Industrial Costs and Prices, Government of India, New Delhi in technical studies research activities and pollution potential of various chemical industries 1982-85.

Implemented initiatives for young scientists to contribute through frontline research, evolved and implemented schemes to enable engineers and scientists to contribute to finding solutions to problems of weaker sections of the society through research, development, design and adaptation, implemented scheme to use expertise of senior scientists in Science & Technology Department, Govt. of India 1985-97.

Scientist `G' and Adviser Science and Technology Department, Govt. of India since 1997; involved with drawing up innovative programmes to communicate science and technology, develop capacity for informed decision-making in the community and stimulate scientific temper among the people; national programmes conceived and implemented including promotion of voluntary blood donation, environmental awareness through waste recycling, Year of Scientific Awareness, International year of Physics. Promoting a national programme to encourage creativity amongst youth and developing a coordinated programme for outreach activities as part of the Year of Planet Earth programme.

Since Dec. 2000, Head of Rashtriya Vigyan Evam Prodyogiki Sanchar Parishad with additional charge of Science & Society Division from December 2001 to June 2004.

Member of the sub group for 11th Five Year Plan for Rural Technology programmes of CSIR, member Working Group of 11th Five Year Plan for Human Resource Development in Scientific Departments, Chairman of Expert Committee for Exhibits of Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala, Member Punjab State Council of Science & Technology, etc.
