Dr. Laxman Prasad

Areas of Specialization :

Specialization in Radio & Microwave Communication from Banaras Hindu University (1970)

Specialized knowledge in the field of Technology Transfer.

Specialization in Patents and International Trade

Written and lectured extensively in the field of Micro-wave Engineering, Intellectual Property Rights and fiscal incentives for promotion of R&D.

Achievements :  

Dr. Prasad was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in Electronics Engineering by Banaras Hindu University in 1976.

Dr. Prasad started his career as Asstt. Station Engineer in 1973 at All India Radio, Calcutta on the basis of Engineering Services (Electronics) Examination, 1972. He joined the Department of Science and Technology as Sr. Scientific Officer Grade-I (Electrical/Electronics) in 1979. Since then, he has served the Department in various capacities - Principal Scientific Officer (1982 -87); Director (1987-92); Joint Adviser (1992-1997) and currently Adviser since 1997 and heading the divisions dealing with matters concerning Drugs and Pharma Research, S & T Councils in various States; Technology Transfer; National Science and Technology Management Information Systems (NSTMIS), Instrumentation and Technology Systems. He has the distinction of chairing many committees and representing the Deptt. in Governing Boards of various institutions.

Dr. Prasad has represented the Government in various national and international meetings/delegations organized by UNESCO, OECD, SAARC, UNCTAD, and ESCAP in various parts of the globe. He was associated with Queen Elizabeth House, University of Oxford, U.K. as Fellow during 1993-94

Dr. Prasad is a Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecom Engineers, India (IETE) and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (India). He is recipient of FIE Foundation National Award (1996) for promotion of Science and Technology in the country.
