Science & Technology proposals from Maharashtra

Lok Sabha

The Ministry of Science and Technology in the Union Government does not provide financial assistance to State Governments. However, the Union Government supports scientific research proposals received from research & development institutions, universities, voluntary organizations, state science & technology councils and other autonomous organizations in various states including state of Maharashtra. According to available officials statistics, the union government have funded 266,473 and 363 research and development projects at a total cost of Rs. 57.85 crore, Rs. 48.73 crore and Rs. 57.55 crore during the years 2002-2003, 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 respectively in the state of Maharashtra.

This information was given by the Union Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Shri Kapil Sibal in the Lok sabha today.
