    The Union Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh Vardhan along with Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent charge) Dr. Mahesh Sharma to survey the historical places and monuments.

    The Union Minister of Science and Technology, and Earth Sciences,  Dr. Harsh Vardhan along with  Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent  charge)Dr. Mahesh Sharma took a tour of his parliamentary constituency Chandani Chowk in order to survey the historical places and monuments under it.

    In addition to officials from Tourism and Archaeological Departments, he was accompanied by Commissioner of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Public Works Division, Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation, Water Board, NDPL, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board and senior officials from the Police Department.

    The Union Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that this Government is making every effort to take the science into the masses.     CSIR Scientists dwelt upon ways to reach benefits of science to the common man particularly in the rural areas as they discussed the issue on the eighth day of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Platinum Jubilee Technofest at the 36th India International Trade Fair (IITF). The Minister for Social Welfare and Empowerment, Thaawarchand Gehlot visited the CSIR Technofest as a Chief Guest today.

    Addressing the seminar, Dr. Sudeep Kumar, Head, Mission Directorate CSIR, said,“CSIR’s objective is to reach masses through technology interventions.”

    The session was also addressed by Mr. Bharat Bhushan from CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM). Issues like “Lavender cultivation on barren land, Honey extraction along with the flower cultivation were discussed.

    ‘Ecology & Environment’ displaying advancements in the field was the focus at the CSIR ‘Platinum Jubilee Techno Fest’ at the India International Trade Fare (IITF) in New Delhi yesterday. The major highlight of ‘Ecology & Environment’ was free swimming robot ‘Maya’, an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle developed by CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), being used for coastal areas surveys and mapping salinity of water in reservoirs and dams. A multi-fuel domestic cook stove, ‘Neerdhur’, developed by CSIR- National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) for rural Indian households, can be fueled by cow dung cake, wood chips, wood logs and charcoal. “It is an amazing experience to see technologies dedicated to rural areas. Such initiative is always welcomed as it is guiding the future generation and the budding scientists in the country to contribute to the mankind.” said a Delhi-based engineer at the pavilion. 



  • International Conference on Brucellosis 2016

    The Minister of State for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Shri Y.S. Chowdary, has called for villagers to be trained to handle animal diseases like Brucellosis on a cooperative basis. Speaking after inaugurating International Research Conference on Brucellosis in New Delhi today he expressed concern that Brucellosis is endemic in India and that it could spread to humans. He along with the Minister of State, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Sudarshan Bhagat, who presided over the meeting, released various vaccines and three new diagnostic kits. They also launched programme of “Brucella Free Villages” for implementation on pilot scale in 50 villages covering 10 states. This programme will be supported by guidelines and standard operating practices along with an IT enabled application.

    In order to capture day light and concentrate the same inside a dark room, particularly in urban slum or rural areas which lack electricity supply, a low cost and energy efficient Micro Solar Dome has been tested and developed.

    Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh Vardhan today visited the dwelling units of Lalbagh clusters in Azadpur area of Delhi, where the PV Integrated Micro Solar Dome (MSD) – Surya Jyoti have been installed. The minister was pleased to notice how these lamps have improved the quality of life of the inhabitants especially of the women and children.     CSIR has come out with a “Game changing technology” for enabling the Indian leather sector achieve the set target of USD 27 billion by 2020 by making leather processing environmentally sustainable. This “Waterless chrome tanning technology” is a first of its kind technology to reduce chromium pollution load.
