The Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) Schemes of Science for Equity Empowerment and Development (SEED) Division of Department of Science and Technology (DST) had a precise mandate of delivering science led solutions and development of location specific appropriate technologies for improvement of livelihood system and creation of sustainable livelihoods for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) Communities.

Project proposals are invited under SCSP and TSP Schemes to ensure holistic development of SC and ST Communities in the context of Growing Aspirations and improve the Quality of Life with the inputs of Science and Technology (S&T). The project proposals should aim at (i) Development need-based Science and Technology (S&T) solutions to address the identified challenges of SC and ST Communities,(ii) Improvingthe Livelihood System efficiency through S&T Interventions (iii) Creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through local resource management, skill development, STI capacity building and S&T led entrepreneurship (iv) Strengthen the S&T delivery mechanism and (v) Improve the efficiency of Welfare System through Science Technology and Innovation (STI)
