National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India is involved in developing various formats of communication to disseminate Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) to encourage, engage and empower people in scientific endeavours through science popularization. To strengthen this ecosystem further, NCSTC invites proposals in following areas:
1. Empowering STEM Students for Community Engagement and Career Exploration through Samvaad
Samvaad, a new initiative is aimed towards bridging the gap of science-society-industry This initiative will cater the learning needs of students enrolled in higher education institutions and universities for career progression and also provide opportunity to connect with community for identification of challenges for research catalysis. The initiative will empower STEM students for research and career exploration. The initiative will involve dedicated Samvaad Gurus (mentors) for students and Samvaad mitr (students) who will connect to society. Proposals are invited under following two components of Samvaad:
- Bridging the Gap with Community
- Scientific Career Progression
2. Science and Technology Communication Tools (Toys and Games)
To promote research & innovation in the field of toys, games and other value added teaching and learning materials leveraging S&T principles, NCSTC would like to invite proposals under following components:
- Traditional Scientific Toys and Games: Focus on preserving, validating and value addition of traditional toys and games.
- Advanced Scientific Toys and Games: Exploring new-age technologies to develop toys and games for experiential learning and augmenting cognitive skills.
- Value Added Learning Materials: Development of educational materials to augment learning skills in STEM fields.
3. Capacity Building in Science Communication through AWSAR (Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research)
- AWSAR - Popular Science Writing, focusing on making scientific concepts accessible to a broad audience;
- AWSAR - Technical Science Writing, aimed at effectively communicating complex research findings to specialized audiences; and
- AWSAR - Capacity Building of Journalists in Science Communication, dedicated to equipping non-specialised journalists with necessary tools and knowledge to effectively disseminate scientific information.
4. Public Awareness, Outreach and Fostering Scientific Temperament though Community Engagement (Celebrating National Science Day, Public Lecture Series, any other innovative community engagement activity etc.)
To create public awareness, fostering public awareness and cultivating scientific temperament through community engagement and analyse the science, technology and innovation consumption behaviour in community.
