Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri highlights the role of engineers to move towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat

Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, FNAE, Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, highlighted the importance of engineering in the prosperity of the nation, its role in social meeting needs and in achieving the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat -- the vision of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, while delivering a lecture to commemorate Engineers' Day on 15th September 2022.

He stressed on the need of India becoming an economically powerful and prosperous country with strong academia and working with the mandate of ‘Make in India to Make for the World’ at the lecture on ‘Towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat - Role of Engineers’.

“India should be more self-reliant in the fields of communication, computer applications, defence production, strategic materials and manufacturing and moving forward in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning,” he emphasised.

Dr. Reddy highlighted that currently, India is home to as many as 75,000 start-ups developed by its youth, primarily in the fields of engineering and technology.

The online event was organised by The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE). Prof Indranil Manna, President, INAE, spoke about the life and works of one of the country's greatest engineers, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

It was attended virtually by a large number of participants, INAE Fellows, and dignitaries who participated in a question-answer session.
