IIA to conduct online interactive sessions to engage high school and college students in India

Present and past Ph.D. students and Postdocs of Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru an autonomous institute under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India have initiated online interactive sessions ‘Let’s Talk Astronomy’ to engage high school (9th-12th standard) and college students (bachelors and masters) in India.

These interactive sessions, which will be held tentatively between 10 am -12 pm on Sundays in May 2020, will be providing an overview of modern research and will cover the scientific and engineering challenges involved in understanding our universe. The sessions will also discuss career prospects in the field of research in astronomy and astrophysics.

In these difficult times of COVID-19 pandemic, while all are trying to adapt and find new ways of working, these free online interactive sessions for school and college students will provide an opportunity to the students to learn about modern research in astronomy and exploration of the scientific and engineering challenges.
