INAE invites nominations for Life Time Contribution Award in Engineering & Outstanding Teachers Award

Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science &Technology, Govt. of India, has invited nominations for INAE Life Time Contribution Award in Engineering; Professor Jai Krishna and Professor SN Mitra Memorial Awards and INAE Outstanding Teachers Award.

Any citizen of India who has made distinguished contributions in the field of engineering/engineering research, engineering education, technology development, engineering services or management which have brought prestige to the nation and regarded as landmarks of technological excellence in the country, is eligible for nomination to The INAE Life Time Contribution Award in Engineering, instituted in 1997. The award consists of Rs.5 lakhs in cash and a citation, which is presented during the Annual Convention of the Academy.

INAE instituted Professor Jai Krishna Memorial Award in the year 2004 in memory of late Professor Jai Krishna, Founder President, and Professor SN Mitra Memorial Award in the year 2005 in memory of first Honorary Secretary of the Indian National Academy of Engineering.  The award is presented in different engineering disciplines, namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, among others.

The nominee should be an INAE Fellow, an eminent engineer, innovator, expert in engineering sciences or a technologist of distinguished standing, and should have made have significant Academic and scholarly achievements in any discipline of Engineering and Technology; should have outstanding research in engineering and technology and application thereof, outstanding contributions in the management of education and research in Engineering and Outstanding achievements and contributions in the Indian industry, engineering services or engineering projects. The nominee should not be a member of the INAE Governing Council during the year of the award. The awards include Rs.2 lakhs in cash and a citation.

The Academy instituted the Outstanding Teachers Award in the year 2013 to honour INAE Fellows who have excelled in the field of teaching in Indian Colleges, Universities, and Institutions, and have provided guidance towards technology development and inspired students to take up careers in Engineering and Technology. There are two such awards per year with one award in two groups comprising of different engineering disciplines. The nominee should be an  INAE Fellow who is working or has worked in India for a minimum of 10 years and has at least 20 years of teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate level in any College/ University/Institution. The awards consist of Rs.1 lakh in cash, a citation and a book grant of Rs.25,000/-

Besides the forwarding of hard copies of nominations, provision for online submission of nominations has also been provided through the login facility of INAE Fellows. The last date for receipt of Nominations for all the above-mentioned awards is May 15, 2020.
