Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Govt. of India has targeted to achieve collection, transportation, processing & disposal of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) in a scientific manner in 4041 cities/towns of India by 2019. Accordingly, it is planned to enrol solution providers offering diverse technology optionsboth from India and abroad for scientific management of MSW under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The data bank of technologies for municipal solid waste management would enable local bodies take informed decision on technology choices. Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC), an autonomous organization under Ministry of Science and Technology& INAE on behalfof Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) and Department of Science & Technology (DST) seeks enrolment of the solution providers on choice of technology. Based on the information, technological classification will be made for use by States / Urban Local Bodies / SBM regarding selection and use of appropriate technologies for solid waste management.
