The "WISE Post-Doctoral Fellowship (WISE-PDF)" of the Department of Science and Technology aims to provide opportunity to carry out research in basic and applied sciences to women scientists and technologists between the age group of 27-60 years who want to pursue research in STEM fields as bench-level scientists.
Vision: WISE-PDF provides opportunity to women to continue research after Ph.D. through independent project grant.
Objectives: The main objective of WISE-PDF is to encourage women scientists to conduct research in science and engineering with independent PDF research grant and to engage them in knowledge dissemination through SSR
Target Group: Women who have completed Ph.D. in Basic & Applied Sciences or attain equivalent degree.
Scientific Disciplines: Under WISE-PDF, support is available in 5 subject areas viz. (1) Physical and Mathematical Sciences [PM]; (2) Chemical Sciences [CS]; (3) Life Sciences [LS]; (4) Earth and Atmospheric Sciences [EA]; and (5) Engineering & Technology [ET]
Eligibility:
- The women should have Ph.D. degree in basic and applied sciences or equivalent degree like MD, MS, MDS, etc. from a recognized university.
- The minimum age should be 27 years and maximum of 60 years.
- Women in regular employment are not eligible for WISE-PDF. However, women scientists who are temporarily employed in research or academics may apply in the programme.
Financial Support: This Programme provides fellowship of the applicant @Rs. 67,000/- per month along with House Rent Allowances (HRA) as per norms, Research Grant of Rs. 2.00 lakh per year and cost of small equipment (up to a maximum of Rs. 3.00 lakh) and Institutional overhead charges @Rs. 1.00 lakh per year.
Duration: The project tenure is up to maximum 3 years duration.
