1. India’s Quantum Strategy: National Quantum Mission

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved the National Quantum Mission (NQM) aiming to seed, nurture and scale up scientific and industrial R&D and create a vibrant & innovative ecosystem in Quantum Technology (QT). This will accelerate QT led economic growth, nurture the ecosystem in the country and make India one of the leading nations in the development of Quantum Technologies & Applications (QTA).

The next generation transformative technologies that will receive a push under this Mission includes:

·     Quantum Computing

·     Quantum Communication

·     Quantum Sensing and Metrology

·     Quantum Materials and Devices

 

2. Quantum Entanglement Exchange Programme- India

Quantum Entanglement Exchange (Quantum EE) program is a multinational initiative connecting students, researchers, and professionals working in the area of Quantum Technologies with international exchange opportunities (https://entanglementexchange.org/).The Department of Science & Technology, India is hosting an exchange portal that showcases opportunities for international students, postdocs, and professional researchers who want to study or carry out research in India in the field of quantum science and technology.

3. Opportunities in India for International Exchange

Here is a comprehensive catalog of all study programs in India dedicated entirely or partly to the exploration of quantum technology. This list encompasses programs from the master's level and beyond.

  • United States–India Science & Technology Endowment Fund (USISTEF) announces a special call on "Critical and Emerging Technology: Quantum Technologies and Artificial Intelligence for Transforming Lives".

USISTEF selects and supports promising joint U.S.-India technology innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives that are commercially viable and socially relevant. These joint initiatives can originate from U.S. and Indian entities including startups, government, academic, or commercial endeavors, and any combination thereof provided they focus on applied R&D, incorporate a business plan and proof of commercial concept, and have significant sustainable commercial potential.

  • India Japan Science and Technology Cooperation

The Department of Science and Technology DST, Ministry of Science Technology, Government of India, New Delhi and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science JSPS conduct the India-Japan Cooperative Science Programme-IJCSP to promote bilateral scientific collaboration between Indian and Japanese scientists. Applications are invited from eligible Indian researchers /scientists to submit proposals for Joint Research Projects and Joint Workshops/Seminars under IJCSP. The support is available under the scientific areas - a Physical Sciences b Chemical Sciences c Life Science and Agriculture d Mathematics and Computational Science e Astronomy and Earth Science f Materials Engineering
