UG, PG and PhD students from all NITs in North Eastern Region of lndia as well as institutes, colleges and universities in the region upgraded a variety of skills specially focused on converting an idea into a prototype including market survey, manufacturing and marketing, at a workshop organized jointly by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) and Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE)
Prof. Indranil Manna, President INAE, encouraged young minds towards entrepreneurship and start-ups emphasizing that it can help the country aim to become one of the greatest economies of the world.
Prof. Sivaji Chakravorti, Vice-President, INAE inspired the students to be the part of design and manufacturing, such that our country could lead in both and stressed on focusing on frugal innovation. Prof. D. Viswanathan, former Vice Chancellor, Anna University underlined the importance of inspiring young minds in this direction.
Mr. Suparno Moitra, Founder & CEO, Indian Public Policy Foundation & Former Chairman of the Board of Governors, NIT Nagaland and Mr. Taliwati Longchar, Director MSME also spoke about their experiences.
The workshop titled Skill Development for an Idea to Prototype continued for five days with fourteen experts from industry and academia sharing expertise on entrepreneurship and start-ups to inspire the participants. NIT Nagaland; NIT Manipur; St. Joseph University, Nagaland; University of Nagaland and some other Universities from North East region of India participated in it.
