SEED Division delivers scientific knowledge and technologies for societal benefits at the national and sub-national levels. It is unique with strong societal components in terms of schemes and programmes, which are specifically intended to develop, demonstrate and deliver S&T-driven solutions through adaptive R&D. The division has flagship programmes to benefit Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Women, Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, Young scientists, Elderly and Divyangjan, with innovative technological interventions for improving quality of life and livelihood system. Many field-tested models and location-specific technologies are being deployed to meet the needs of different sections in rural and urban areas aiming at improving knowledge, socio-economic conditions, skill enhancement and capacity building.
